Multi-Wavelength Laser Platforms for Endovenous Treatment
GIGAA provides diode and thulium fiber laser platforms for selected endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) and fiber-based vascular procedures. With multiple wavelength options — 810 nm, 980 nm, 1470 nm and 1940 nm — clinicians and distributors can select the appropriate laser configuration according to tissue interaction, treatment technique, fiber design and clinical protocol.
What Is Endovenous Laser Treatment?
Controlled Laser Energy Delivered Through an Optical Fiber
Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) is a minimally invasive procedure in which laser energy is delivered through an optical fiber positioned within the target vein.
The laser produces a controlled thermal effect along the treated vessel. Treatment parameters, fiber configuration and energy delivery technique should be selected according to the target anatomy, vessel characteristics and clinical protocol.
GIGAA’s vascular laser platforms are designed to provide:
- Controlled laser power
- Adjustable treatment parameters
- Fiber-based energy delivery
- Multiple wavelength options
- Compatibility with different fiber configurations
- Compact and integrated laser systems for clinical use
Clinical note: Laser wavelength, power, pullback speed, fiber type and total delivered energy should be selected according to the physician’s treatment protocol and the specific clinical indication.
Which Wavelength Is Suitable for EVLT?
Understanding Vascular Laser Wavelengths
Understanding Vascular Laser Wavelengths
Different wavelengths interact with tissue differently. GIGAA provides several wavelength options to support different clinical preferences and system configurations.
| Wavelength | Main Tissue Interaction | Typical Positioning | Key Characteristics |
|---|---|---|---|
| 810 nm | Hemoglobin + water | Conventional vascular applications | Established diode laser wavelength with broad clinical use |
| 980 nm | Water + hemoglobin | Vascular & soft tissue | Versatile wavelength with both vascular and surgical applications |
| 1470 nm | Strong water absorption | EVLT / endovenous procedures | Efficient tissue interaction with controlled thermal delivery |
| 1940 nm | Very high water absorption | Advanced low-power vascular configuration | Strong water interaction and concentrated energy delivery through fiber |
The Key Difference Is Not Simply “Which Wavelength Is Better”
The choice of wavelength depends on the intended procedure, tissue interaction, fiber configuration and treatment protocol.
GIGAA therefore does not position one wavelength as universally superior. Instead, we provide different laser configurations so distributors and clinicians can select the platform that best fits their target applications.
980 nm Diode Laser
Versatile Vascular and Surgical Wavelength
980 nm provides absorption in both water and hemoglobin, making it a versatile wavelength for vascular and soft tissue applications.
Its broader application range makes 980 nm particularly useful when the same laser platform is expected to support more than one clinical specialty.
Key characteristics
- Water and hemoglobin absorption
- Vascular and soft tissue applications
- Flexible fiber-based delivery
- Suitable for multi-wavelength platforms
- Broader application potential beyond EVLT
Best suited for
Clinics and distributors looking for one diode platform covering vascular and soft tissue applications.
1470 nm Diode Laser
A Dedicated Wavelength for Modern Endovenous Applications
1470 nm has strong absorption in water, allowing efficient interaction with water-rich tissue.
For EVLT, laser energy is delivered through an optical fiber positioned inside the target vein, allowing controlled thermal treatment along the vessel.
Key characteristics
- Strong water absorption
- Efficient fiber-based energy delivery
- Suitable for endovenous applications
- Compatible with radial and other specialized fiber configurations
- Widely positioned for modern EVLT systems
Best suited for
Clinicians looking for a dedicated wavelength for endovenous laser treatment.
1940 nm Thulium Fiber Laser
High Water Absorption in a Low-Power Vascular Configuration
1940 nm Thulium Fiber Laser technology provides very strong absorption in water and enables highly localized energy delivery through a small optical fiber.
For GIGAA’s vascular applications, the 1940 nm configuration is designed as a low-power endovenous laser platform, typically below 10 W.
At this configuration, the system is positioned for vascular applications rather than lithotripsy.
Key characteristics
- Very high water absorption
- Concentrated energy delivery through optical fiber
- Low-power vascular configuration
- Suitable for selected endovenous applications
- Based on the same Thulium Fiber Laser technology used in GIGAA’s advanced surgical platforms
Important Configuration Difference
The same 1940 nm Thulium Fiber Laser technology can support different clinical applications depending on system power and configuration.
Vascular configuration:
<10 W → selected endovenous applications
Advanced surgical / lithotripsy configuration:
Higher-power platform → lithotripsy and selected endoscopic surgical applications
This distinction is important because wavelength alone does not define the clinical application. Laser power, pulse characteristics, fiber, delivery system and clinical protocol all influence the intended use.
How Does GIGAA's Multi-Wavelength Platform Help?
One Platform. Multiple Clinical Options.
For distributors and hospitals working across different clinical applications, a multi-wavelength platform can provide greater flexibility than a single-purpose laser system.
Depending on the model, GIGAA platforms can integrate selected wavelengths such as:
635 nm · 810 nm · 980 nm · 1064 nm · 1470 nm · 1940 nm
Different wavelengths can be configured according to the intended clinical applications and system architecture.
Why This Matters
- For clinicians
Select the wavelength according to the procedure and clinical protocol.
- For hospitals
One platform can potentially support multiple laser-based applications.
- For distributors
A configurable platform makes it easier to address different clinical segments with a broader product portfolio.
- For OEM partners
Laser configurations can be adapted according to market requirements and application positioning.
Fiber Technology
Fiber Design Is Part of the Treatment System
The laser source is only one part of an EVLT system. Fiber geometry determines how laser energy is distributed around the treatment area and should be selected according to the intended clinical technique.
GIGAA provides different fiber configurations for vascular applications, including:
Radial Fiber
Designed to distribute laser energy radially around the fiber tip.
Available configurations include different radial geometries, such as:
- Standard radial configuration
- Long-loop radial configuration
Specialized Fiber Options
Different fiber designs can be selected according to:
- Target vessel anatomy
- Treatment technique
- Desired energy distribution
- Fiber diameter
- Clinical protocol
Clinical Consideration
Fiber selection should not be separated from wavelength and treatment parameters. Wavelength + power + fiber geometry + pullback technique + delivered energy should be considered as an integrated treatment system.

FAQ
Several wavelengths can be used for endovenous laser treatment, including 810 nm, 980 nm and 1470 nm. 1940 nm Thulium Fiber Laser can also be configured for selected low-power vascular applications.
The appropriate wavelength depends on the treatment protocol, fiber configuration and clinical preference.
1470 nm has strong absorption in water, allowing efficient interaction with water-rich tissue during fiber-based endovenous treatment.
It is commonly positioned for modern EVLT systems because it can provide controlled thermal energy delivery through an optical fiber.
The primary difference is their tissue absorption characteristics.
810 nm has established vascular applications, while 980 nm provides absorption in both water and hemoglobin and offers broader vascular and soft tissue versatility. 1470 nm has stronger water absorption and is widely used for endovenous applications.
The choice should be based on the clinical protocol rather than wavelength alone.
Yes. GIGAA offers a low-power 1940 nm configuration, typically below 10 W, for selected endovenous vascular applications.
This configuration is different from GIGAA's higher-power 1940 nm Thulium Fiber Laser systems designed for lithotripsy and advanced endoscopic surgery.
